Wired Differently,
Understood Together:

creating neuroinclusive environments at work and in life

The premise behind Wired Differently, Understood Together is that neurotypical and neurodivergent people need to come together to create inclusive spaces in which everyone can thrive.

I am mindful that neurodivergent people work hard all the time to understand the neurotypical perspective, and therefore the onus should be on neurotypical people to also understand the challenges that neurodivergent people experience daily.

In Wired Differently, Understood Together, I share what I have learnt through a cast of characters I created based on real people I have interviewed. Through their stories, I explore the issues that impact neuroinclusion in a way that is empathetic, relatable, and nurturing. From the common threads I identified, I have established a framework of four elements – love, safety, identity and dialogue – that I believe will foster neuroinclusion.

I illustrate how these elements are built by returning to the original cast and augmenting these with more characters to form a dialogue group that gathers to explore the topic of neuroinclusion.

The book concludes with how we can encourage neuroinclusion in the workplace, so that neurodivergent people are free to be themselves and we can create the optimal environment that brings out the best in everyone: neurodivergent and neurotypical alike.
